Introducing TPT Assist

My goal in starting The Players’ Tribune was to provide athletes with the chance to share their personal stories and express their passions. And what we’ve heard from many of them is the desire to talk about worthwhile causes that need assistance.

The Players’ Tribune is proud to launch a dedicated section on our site called TPT Assist. As we’ve rolled out our content, the Tribune has taken on many tough subjects, from domestic violence to mental illness. TPT Assist gives us the chance to do more than talk.

Giving back and helping others have always been important to me. Since my rookie season in 1996, my Turn 2 Foundation has been dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles among young people. Many of my peers in the athlete community are also using their influence in positive ways to assist others and create social change. TPT Assist offers athletes the opportunity to share how they are impacting lives while highlighting causes and initiatives that are aimed at tackling some of society’s biggest problems. With your help, we can make a difference.

Our first effort is a series of athlete stories inspired by President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative, a nationwide call to support youth in our highest need communities. We need to reach these young people and reassure them that education, perseverance, hard work and courage matter — that surrounding yourself with the right people can lead to a positive future. We can help amplify that message, by speaking from the heart and sharing our own stories of redemption and inspiration.

We hope these stories will inspire you to help as well, in whatever way you can. This is just the beginning for TPT Assist. You’ll see more from us in the near future.
