All In a Day's Work

JED JACOBSOHN/THE PLAYERS' TRIBUNE

The baseball season is a grind. So for Madison Bumgarner, the chance to head home to North Carolina for the offseason to be with family, relax and live a normal life is always welcome. Hunting, fishing and just working on the farm in the offseason make it so Bumgarner never forgets where he comes from. And when it’s time to go back to work for spring training, a 162-game season and hopefully the playoffs, he aims to bring that even-keeled farm mentality with him.
