There She Goes: Bidding Farewell to Danica Patrick

JON FERREY/THE PLAYERS' TRIBUNE

Danica Patrick said goodbye to racing on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the track where she achieved some of her greatest glory. With her 30th-place finish at the Brickyard in the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500, Patrick completed the second leg of the Danica Double, the farewell tour she began on Feb. 18 with a 35th-place finish in the Daytona 500. The race at Indy brought to a close her 13-year racing career — across both IndyCar and NASCAR — during which she become the most accomplished female driver in American motor sports history. The Players’ Tribune embedded with Patrick in Indy for the final two weeks of her racing journey — and got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the driver as she turned her last laps.
