Dugout Days

The dugout is a team’s sanctuary, where camaraderie unites players and frequent celebrations lighten the tension of competition. But for upcoming batters preparing to face MLB pitching, the dugout can suddenly become a lonely place. Left alone by teammates to focus and contemplate the next at bat, the dugout becomes a high-pressure, precise and highly psychological space. I focused on these moments while photographing each dugout during the 2015 season at Citi Field.
