Slap Shots

I started shooting hockey for Sports Illustrated in 1986, and haven’t stopped. (If I had it would be a “hockey stop.”) My favorite team is usually the one that plays in the best building to work as a photographer — it makes all the difference. During the playoffs each year, I find myself rooting for a team’s building not the team itself. The building personnel, photo positions, condition of glass and size of photo holes in the plexi are all crucial in giving the photographers the best opportunities to make great photos. That is why we do this.
