Head of Video

Location: New York, NY

We are seeking a progressive and collaborative self-starter to serve as the Head of Video. This job requires daily communication and optimal coordination with internal divisions, partners and our athlete community. It is critical to have an extensive understanding of the digital and video landscape, and be able to thrive in a fast paced, start-up environment. The ideal candidate will be a results driven individual with an extensive track record of creating effective video content strategies focused on delivering robust audience growth and engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the strategy, creative and execution of The Players’ Tribune day-to-day video alongside the Head of Content
  • Creating and managing a daily video programming calendar focused on driving consistent quality output across all platforms
  • Supporting the ideation and execution of branded content sponsorship campaigns
  • Working with the Finance and Strategy team on managing against an overall video budget
  • Creating effective video content distribution strategies to drive audience growth and development
  • Evaluating, procuring and managing outside production companies
  • Leading and mentoring the current product video team
  • Structure and lead recruiting for future team growth as needed
  • Partnering with Product team to strategically build UX of video experience
  • Actively participating in long-term content, audience and business strategy discussions

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 10+ years’ experience in developing and producing Video content across multiple platform and formats
  • 5+ years’ experience leading a talented creative team with strong leadership, organizational and managerial skills
  • Highly creative with a proven track record growing audiences
  • Highly skilled in managing multiple projects and priorities
  • Excellent understanding of digital media trends and how audiences consume content across platforms
  • Familiarity and confidence with directing talent, providing construction creative feedback
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Impeccable work ethic
  • Superior communication skills, both written and oral, as well as the ability to work cross-functionally to serve the collective interest of the organization
  • Personal eagerness to serve as part of a growing organization
  • Willingness to work in an all-hands-on-deck environment
  • Deep knowledge and passion for sports and digital media
  • Experience with Adobe editing software preferred but not required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in broadcast, film or a related field
