Seeing the Series

The World Series returned to New York this past weekend for the first time since the Yankees won the title in 2009. And as October turned to November and Citi Field gleamed in its postseason debut, we were ushered through the last few moments of the Fall Classic with the sights and sounds of summer: The sizzling franks, the buzz of the crowds at the turnstiles, the shouts of “Let’s Go Mets” as strangers became family and clung to hopes of a comeback.

In the end, it was the Royals hugging each other on the field as Mets fans boarded the 7 train and went home. But it was a weekend worth celebrating no matter which side you rooted for, and a fitting end to another season of what still feels like America’s game. We went beyond simple still images to give you a taste of those moments.​
